[Loki's having trouble sleeping. The turbulence has his heart racing and stomach dropping with every sudden motion, and while he knows the likely reason why, he's not about to admit it. And while the Navarch's offer of medication is kind, he's not so certain he wants to knock himself out entirely while he's paired with his current inmate.
So he's up. And tense. And looking for a distraction. Perhaps he's not alone.]
Is anyone else awake? I'm not one for pills, unfortunately, so I haven't managed a single wink. And now I am just terribly bored.
Who's up for a chat? We're all still fairly new here, after all. Can't hurt to share the basics with the group, yes?
For example: Why are you here? Or why do you *think* you're here, at any rate. That should get us through the rest of the night on its own, for some of you.
But I also have time to hear all about your tragic childhoods and major regrets, if you'd like. Might as well get started on graduations while we've got the extra time. And what better time for baring your soul during a bout of insomnia?

[A soft lie, perhaps, given he commissioned statues and plays about himself...]
But the short version is that I need to ensure that I go back to my reality with a means to keep it from getting horribly worse. I'm hoping my windfall will help with that. Possibly more than one, depending on what needs solving, I suppose.
And if anyone's going to be a good warden, it's someone who's graduated themselves, right? Hence the Navarch's invitation, I imagine.
[That's a lie. He certainly wants to do well, if only to make his own life easier, but he's also waiting for the Navarch to realize that the God of Lies was a poor choice for an authority figure. Any day now.]

Oh, I can't WAIT for this. This is going to be such a complex roux of bullshit you're about to feed us. I've got Michelin star reviewers waiting on my text whenever you're ready to debut this fucking masterpiece.

[She honestly believes that. Even if he's already proving to be A Lot.]
Not every single soul on this ship is here to dish out "bullshit" or lie.

You're all telling me the same story and it isn't true!
[Anyone watching for flood effects won't feel them. Volk isn't lying, he's just mistaken: he believes what he's saying.]

To what end, Volk? There's no point in us all collectively trying to trick you.

I'm not dead, I don't deserve to be here, and there's no fucking reason we should be in outer space. I will say it as many times as I have to.

That would be the hope. But I imagine every reality has a laundry list of problems, no? You might be here a while.

[It's definitely an approach, and he does want to save as many Asgardians as he can...but honestly he's more concerned about saving himself and Thor.]

So what's the longer version. Doesn't have to be the whole thing, just more than the 'short' version.
I'll even volunteer some info in return. I need to go back, so I can finish cleaning up some messes I made. Big messes, and while I started the work--I don't trust the military or black ops groups to clean them up and not make shit worse.

A madman attacked and killed what was left of my people after our planet was destroyed. Then he killed me, and left my brother to die drifting in space. He took a powerful artifact with him, which I have been told he used to follow through on his plan to eliminate half of all life in the universe.
I'd like to undo as much of all that as I can. Given the power and destruction involved, it seems unlikely a single deal would be enough.
[This is all technically true, but leaves out key details. Like how Loki worked for Thanos and handed the artifact over willingly.]
It's good that you recognize the damage you've done. That's a start, at least.

I think it speaks to your ability to make up for what you've done that you're here and the military idiots aren't, though.
[Not that he really has a leg to stand on in judging damage done to Manhattan in particular.]

I mean, being here I'm dead. But I'll take that long shot chance at redemption-whatever that means--if it means I can go back and finish cleaning up the mess I made.

Though it will likely take far more work than luck.
