[ Grace actually got here a while ago. Apart from a brief encounter with one guy by the inmate cells, she's been drifting around, invisible. Watching. Not talking to anyone, just observing. One guy got handcuffed to the cafeteria tables. It very much reinforced her resolve about staying invisible for a little while.
But she hadn't been lazy-- Her first goal was to raid the research library to find some stuff written by people who are way, WAY more experienced than her about this whole situation. She's spent the past few days reading in her room.
Probably now that she's more acclimatized, it'll be an okay time to try to communicate. Safer. Via text. ]
hello
since arriving here i've been trying to read more about what the experts in the field recommend to assist with prisoner rehabilitation and reintegration. a lot of it seems... difficult to implement, at least immediately
but one of the things they discuss is the option of Group Therapy and i was just wondering if there was anything like that already available
it seems like it could be helpful

Though I do agree it would likely help build greater bonds down the line.
Better understanding others has greatly helped me in the past.
Based on that description, you are likely picturing the right Claire, yes.

to talk about planning this kind of thing
maybe not exactly this but other helpful things
rehab-focused
it might be a good idea to be more organized

It's rather difficult to help anyone if we haven't agreed on what is and isn't helpful.
Not that I expect us to avoid making mistakes entirely, of course.
I think there are bound to be some inmates who won't benefit from *just* talking for many weeks, if not months into their stay. Particularly those who are very skilled at it.
Speaking from personal experience.

solidifying some kind of program would at least help the inmates feel less
untethered ?
are there many wardens who were formerly inmates ?
that bodes well for what we're trying to do here at least

[Or perhaps more pressingly, a sense of alienation can be dangerous.]
None from this ship specifically, including myself.
I'll leave it to any others to identify themselves beyond that, I think.
[He's not sure how open William is being about that, honestly.]

[ That's news. It makes sense that there would be, to Grace, but still. Wow. ]
but this is an incredible asset
at least in the sense that we have proof that this is a system that can work
and that there are people who are being helped
and personal experience can only make the process better for the inmates coming afterwards
i understand why you wouldn't necessarily want to advertise it but
i think it is wonderful :)

Though the one I was on was something of an exception, given it was essentially stolen by a rebel.
Be careful. You almost make me sound like a role model.
Many would object to that.
But I do hope my experience will be of some benefit. Even if it is mostly learning from prior mistakes.

stolen ? that can happen ?
what did that mean for the passengers ?
but that is what i hope we can do for all the inmates
so if you can be a role model i think it is good :)

I will do my best. And if you should need anything, know that I'm available.
