[WARDEN FILTER]
[A quick, impulsive post as another new arrival settles in.]
We get guns?
Has anyone had to use the guns?

You're here!
When did you get here?
Are you okay?
Did the Barge explode?
Is that why you're here?
I
wait
hang on
[He turns the video on, whoops. He looks as frantic as his text sounded. Frantic enough that he doesn't realize he hasn't made this private in any way.]
You're really here? Really?

It's a nice reaction to see, however, and she smiles at his worry despite herself.]
I've been here since last night. Barge didn't explode, but I think I disappeared. Time was up, probably gotta happen to everyone eventually. The other stuff's...complicated.
When did you get here? You disappeared.
private
Two months ago or so. I think. Time's-- we're in space.
[He makes a face, annoyed at being so inarticulate.]
I was sent home. Well, back to when I died, at least. I didn't, this time, but only just. I thought perhaps the barge had finally succumbed to all its malfunctions and I'd been flung back, or--
[Or the Admiral hadn't seen him fit enough to be a warden. He swallows, shakes his head.]
Anyway, the Navarch came almost immediately, and she got hold of Rhys and William as well, somehow. I-- oh, yes! William's here. You should find him. He's been very serious about all this; I think you'd be proud.
[He's running meetings! And making jokes about spending all their pooled money on tattoos, but. Still!]
private 4ever
I just ran into him, turns out. This is...this feels insane, in a nice way. I don't know what's going on, I wasn't expecting to see any familiar faces.
Have you all only just gotten here, pretty much? Is this like, a new ship?
no subject
I didn't either. Though some are-- well, familiar, but not the same. There's a...version of Barnes here, but he isn't the one from the Barge. It's. Well, odd, to put it lightly.
[Not the oddest thing, of course, but still a possibility they should probably be prepared for encountering again.]
I believe the Navarch said this ship was recently recommissioned, yes. We've all been...sort of figuring out how this all works, truthfully. William and I have some idea, but not from this perspective. And there's so few of us, too. The ship almost feels empty.
[He shakes his head, laughs in an almost nervous way.]
Norns, you have no idea how many times I've wanted your advice already.
[And occasionally Betelgeuse's, although he's reasonably certain that his presence would just add unnecessarily to the chaos that's already happening. Misty's less likely to challenge Malekith to a fistfight on Loki's behalf. He thinks.]
no subject
Experience isn't everything, remember. You both graduated for a reason, you're capable.
I'm around to- well, where are you? I don't want to do this on a phone, I have to hug you before I get into all the questions.
[Advice later!]
>>Action
[He heads over right away, actually, dropping everything. He'll feel silly about being this excited for a hug later.]
no subject
I missed you, I was worried sick— I was going to try and find your world and look around, but I couldn't stick a landing.
[Just as well, clearly, since he's here now. Contentedly burying her face in his shoulder, she squeezes with just shy of full strength.]
Have you been alright here?
no subject
I truly didn't mean to leave. I wanted to try, there, but...
[He shrugs.] Honestly, I think I might be a better fit here. Fewer people. Easier to focus.
[There's a beat of hesitation. He doesn't want to immediately bring the mood down, but Norns does he want her advice on Malekith. His presence is the main seed for his current doubts.
Later, he decides.]
How about you? Did you get sent home?
no subject
Yeah. Traveled a little, but I was trying to get back for most of it. And when I finally got home, well— it didn't go great.
no subject
I'm sorry. I'm glad the Navarch chose you. I thought it would just be William and I. And, well. Rhys.
[Who hasn't exactly been a source of joy, lately.]
This ship is...less dangerous, I think. Not perfect, obviously. But I don't think it's going to fall apart around us, which is something. The inmates are mostly squabbling amongst themselves. No particularly horrible squalls.
[He shrugs.]
It should be easy to settle in and...relax.
[Or forget whatever happened back home.]
no subject
[It would be easy to get misty-eyed again, but he's going easy on her. There's a laugh, the strength of her own hold increasing.]
Nothing's on fire, though, haven't seen anybody fighting each other. I think you two are doing really well so far, especially since this is— well, it's not a test, is it? It's real life, and that's a lot more daunting.
I'm so proud, and so, so, so relieved to see you.
no subject
I feel much the same.
[Okay, yeah, he needs to pull back to swipe at his eyes. He tried.
Sniffing awkwardly, he flashes a sheepish smile.]
How have you been settling in? Who have you met so far?
no subject
Not many in person, you and William. Just chatting, uh, Grace, Alice, Claire, it's- well, only wardens, I have no clue what the inmate crowd's like. Who should I meet?
no subject
[He perks up, eyes bright.] Oh! You should meet my first temporary inmate. Jack! She's. [Intense? Obnoxious?] Well, I think she'd be a challenge, if it was made permanent.
no subject
Good challenging, or kill-you challenging?
no subject
no subject
Good you're keeping busy at least, hm? You seem in good spirits about it.
no subject
[But. Specifically. What has he been doing? Uh.]
Oh! I fell off as we landed in the last port. Spent the entire thing as a fish-person. That was a strange one. I suppose we ought to warn people that that's a possibility.
no subject
What, the overboard bit, or fish people specifically? And what was it like-? I've never heard of them like that, it's always mermaids.
no subject
Going overboard, obviously. I doubt fish-person will be an option in every port. And no, the opposite of that. I think I had a salmon head. Was about-- [He holds a hand up somewhere below his hip.] --that tall. Mostly normal body but for the head.
[He pauses to think on what the life was like, what he had been able to retain of it, and lets out another slightly exasperated chuckle.]
Even in that form I was something of an outcast from my society. Too obsessed with knives and spears. The others didn't see the appeal.
no subject
I can't say it sounds as good as being a bat alien, but I'm sure it had its perks. Why the knives and spears?
