Why do you like this movie so much, anyway? Just the gore?

The protagonist isn't really the protagonist. He’s the antagonist. You're rooting for the guy who takes him down, even if he's just as much of a bastard. They're both defined by being deviants to society, but you root for the guy who has mastered it. He’s in control, and he doesn't hurt other people –– just the guys who have it coming, like the protagonist.

But the gore's a big part of it too. It's beautiful. Every kill is unique. Death is one of the most mysterious forces of nature and everyone brushes up against it their whole lives until it comes for them too. No one can master it. No one can beat it forever. Everyone kills for different reasons, but somehow most of us end up in the same place.
