mostly the shit William said. it makes it sound worse than i was thinking. and i was already thinking "forced into a simulation where you don't remember your real self" sounded pretty fucking bad

Indeed. Assault on the mind is a special kind of torture. I'm curious why the Navarch thinks torture is acceptable to inflict on its imprisoned passengers. That seems hypocritical, to say the least.

I’m also curious why the Navarch thinks it’s qualified to be the arbiter of what is best for us. Self-appointed authority tends to be more about ego and power than any sort of altruism.

i've been asking about that since i got here. i didn't ask to be brought here and the wardens tell me that you don't get a choice about going to prison. the difference being that your don't usually have to be brought back from the fucking dead to go to prison first.

One would think that death would render prison wholly unnecessary.

you'd think that, but when some self righteous assholes get unbelievable amounts of power, this is what they decide to do with it.
drag back people from the dead who didn't want it.

How did you die?

i was shot. there was a lot going on in the moment so i don't remember it too well. probably for the best.

Probably. The dead typically don't have a need to remember how they died.
