Worst advice? To settle. For anything. I don't think I've ever had anyone say it out loud to my face, but people live it. I'd say the action counts for more.

Best...I don't know, but as far as things for this specific environment there's a lot of mileage in 'remember people's worlds are probably wildly different from yours'.

The worst... there's probably been a lot, but nothing particular is coming to mind. Probably because you can make anything work if you put some muscle into it.
