Moving on, in a more thoughtful tone as he considers what his magic might actually help with...]

I can cast illusions and light areas we might search. Shapeshift to fit into smaller spaces or reach higher ones. I could pop in behind him to cut off a route of escape, if need be. And I can probably blast open one of the vent covers, though if he's in there he's likely done that himself somehow.

...It seems unwise to play with his trust in us, but I could disguise myself or someone else as an inmate he trusts, as well, if it came to it.
