Not at all. I'm not afraid of hard work, but it'd be nice to know what they'd qualify as 'redemption'.

Hard work doesn't always mean physical work. Sometimes it means the hard work of facing your own emotions.

"They" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Your redemption is something you're going to have to figure out - with help from your warden. And that is going to mean opening up about things you don't want to deal with.

That requires a lot of trust--and that's not something that'd easy to do.

Trust is never easy. But you said you're ready to do hard work. Does that include taking risks?

I picked up Farsi from the military guys I clashed with, as a side effect of the virus. I'm not contagious, given how they have us brought here and shit.

Your story is as full of holes as a block of swiss cheese. Are you saying you caught the virus, and then it - what, made you fight some guys, who then taught you Farsi?

That's because you don't have all the pieces for how it all fits together.

And how can I know I can trust you? Both specifically and in general. For all I know you'll learn all the details, and then turn on me.

First of all, trust is always a risk - one you'll have to learn to take. More of that hard work you claim to be prepared to do. Second of all, I'm not entirely sure how I would turn against you. What, spill all your dirty secrets to the other wardens? We all know you're here for good reason.

I thought therapists were supposed to have confidentiality? Not that you're my therapist, or am I submitting to therapy.

I'm not technically a therapist. Besides, even a therapist can consult with colleagues about their patients. My policy is that if I learn something about an inmate that I think another warden - or all other wardens - should know, I will tell them. If there's something you tell me in confidence, let me know. I can be discreet.

But of course, you have to trust my word on that. As I said: it's a risk.
