Classic splatter flick about a deranged guy who sets out to rip people apart with a chainsaw. Some of the craziest gore I’ve ever seen, I’ve never thought of a chainsaw engine rev the same way since.
spanning: ps. (try not to die)

That's more mundane than I thought it'd be.

Well, maybe not mundane. Straightforward.

What did you think it was gonna be?
spanning: ps. (by about two months)

A guy who's part chainsaw, maybe.

[Though now that he's thinking about the genre...]

But still a splatter flick.

That'd be sick. Maybe someday they'll do a remake and this time he'll lose both his hands and be this Edward Scissorhands motherfucker with chainsaws.
spanning: smoke. (it'll rot your bones)

Sounds more like a sequel than a remake. Besides, it'd be hard for him to pull the starter if he didn't have hands.

That was sequels ten years ago, bro. Now remakes change shit. Usually for the worse, but you know. Sometimes it’s good. A Chainsaw remake would get rid of the gas powered chainsaw that needs a pull and replace it with an electric one. It’s more eco-friendly.
spanning: (oh not good)

Oh, right. Electrical appliances are cordless in the future.

[Though it hadn't even occurred to him the chainsaw would run on gas instead of blood...... smh.]

Why do you like this movie so much, anyway? Just the gore?

The protagonist isn't really the protagonist. He’s the antagonist. You're rooting for the guy who takes him down, even if he's just as much of a bastard. They're both defined by being deviants to society, but you root for the guy who has mastered it. He’s in control, and he doesn't hurt other people –– just the guys who have it coming, like the protagonist.

But the gore's a big part of it too. It's beautiful. Every kill is unique. Death is one of the most mysterious forces of nature and everyone brushes up against it their whole lives until it comes for them too. No one can master it. No one can beat it forever. Everyone kills for different reasons, but somehow most of us end up in the same place.
