The Navarch has a living maintenance crew that has apparently never shown themselves, spoken to us, come out for the ship landing, used our facilities, or I guess told the wardens that they're also here.

I assume nothing else of note came up in the conversation that you would like further clarification on?

At the time, I was asking about what the ship is capable of in case of an emergency. A crash, or a fire, or a failed attempt at landing or entering an atmosphere, a power core failure. Space travel is expensive, impractical, and dangerous. There's a reason we don't do it much where I'm from.

I got reassurances. I don't know which ones are true, but I don't expect it to be more honest with you either.

It isn't likely we'll be told that we're living somewhere horribly unsafe, no.
I will say that there are so many different realities the ship is in contact with that it seems unlikely it wouldn't make use of the best equipment possible.

Or the loading bay door that's a guillotine? Or the library AI that's insanely literal and can't learn

Sarcasm aside, and assuming that they put all of their budget into safety - even people trying their best and using the best resources they can still die to unforeseen things all the time. Just look at any attempt to contain a natural disaster using technology. It's driving me insane that they won't at least tell us what to do if there IS a fire, or if there IS an emergency with the oxygen.
